Forest Primeval

The poetry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, from Evangeline, is the inspiration for this theme, another in our nature-based lyrical themes. "This is the forest primeval. The murmuring pines and the hemlocks, Bearded with moss, and in garments green, indistinct in the twilight, Stand like Druids of eld."

This theme depicts tall pine trees surrounding the flora of a woodland meadow under a night sky. Bright greens are contrasted against the dark blue of the sky, with paler blue clouds dotting the background. Browns and other earth tones complete the scene, along with the pinks and yellows of clover and dandelions. These colors are also used as accents, depending on the type of furniture. The hand-lettered quote is painted in white or very pale blue.
