Painted Chairs Section Revamp!

The painted chairs section of our catalog has been revamped! The section includes several new themes, including Hummingbirds, Jellyfish, and Sea Turtles. These themes are also available on any type of furniture, and pages will be added to those sections in the future.
We foresee 2012 bringing many new additions and changes to the site, so be sure to check back with us often!

New Theme Preview

Here is a preview image of a new theme we are adding to our site. Though we are adding it to our painted chair section, the theme will be available for all our types of painted furniture.

The hummingbird theme will feature a variety of hummingbirds against a blue sky filled with clouds, and may feature a selection of flowers to compliment these colorful creatures.
As you can see, we at the Reincarnations studio have an exciting year ahead of us, and our work is getting better all the time! Stay tuned!

Upcoming Site Additions & More for 2012

2012 is looking to be an exciting year here at Reincarnations Painted Furniture. In addition to finishing the latest site revision, which will include all the painted chairs and nightstands, we’ll be working on completing our line of hand crafted wall mirrors, as well as introducing new themes for our painted furniture. Ongoing Site Renovation

The latest website revision is coming along nicely – only two more catalog sections to go – chairs and nightstands. I’ve been very busy of late, and try to devote as much time to the site as possible, but have been running a bit behind. The chair section should be done sometime in the next few weeks. The nightstand section will take a bit longer, as I plan on both using all original designs, and must build the prototypes in order to complete that section.
Visitors to the site may notice that I use some unconventional design choices. Some of these are considered somewhat outdated: I use graphics for typography, use horizontal dividers, and an unconventional color scheme. These are unlikely to change. I’m an artist, first and foremost, and do not believe a site that sells art should look like it is selling insurance. I also use a hit counter on my pages, which is, according to www.websitesthatsuck.com, is ’so 90’s’. I’ll likely not change that in the future either, as 1.) I like the counter, and 2.) It gives an example of cgi script implementation to my online portfolio. Not only that, but I like seeing the numbers go up without having to decipher a very boring log file. I could care less what browsers my visitors are using, or what time my visitors are coming to the site. In the end, I have only two aims – to sell painted furniture, and to give our viewers the most pleasant viewing experience possible.
So, stay tuned – the site will continue to change and improve as time goes on. We have many new and colorful artworks to be added this year.

Copyright Infringement

I recently found out that people are doing business under the name of ‘Reincarnations’, a clear violation of my intellectual property rights. One person on Etsy even went so far as to use a variation of our ‘fun functional art for fun people’ slogan as a tag-line for her own business, labeling herself as ‘Reincarnations FUNctional Art’.
As most of us know, this is a violation of copyright. I have been in business with this name since 1985, and a search of the internet wayback machine will show that my website has been active since at least 1999.
Folks, just because you like the name, doesn’t give you the right to use it. Just because I did not buy up every possible misspelling of the name does not mean it is open season, either. I may be an artist, but I won’t hesitate to use any and all legal means at my disposal to protect my intellectual property. The offenders have been contacted, and now we’ll have to see just how far I have to go to protect my business and career.
I urge those who like our work, and who understand the concept of IP law, to resist supporting these impostors, and, if possible, to write Etsy and have those accounts suspended. I feel the need to state that these people are NOT in any way connected or affiliated with me or my company. There is only one true Reincarnations, and it is me.

We Go That Extra 1004 Miles

We recently completed a commission for one of our favorite clients, a birthday chair for their grandchildren. We had a limited delivery window in order for the client to see the chair, and upon learning that UPS could not guarantee delivery by that date, we decided to hand deliver the piece, a tropical reef armchair, to the family in CT.
So, we set out at 4 a.m. to make the 9+ hour drive each way. Upon the way, we discovered an unusual fact: the further north we went, the more rude and terrible the drivers became. We love you America, but a LOT of you have NO idea how to drive.
In the end, we were up for 21 1/2 hours, including a strange Googlemaps mishap that allowed us to enter a wrinkle in the Space/Time continuum that somehow place us about 6 miles north of the spot in which we exited the southbound lane, but the chair made it in time. This is just one example of how far the artists of Reincarnations go to satisfy their clients.

Christmas Ordering Deadline
