Painted Desert

As artists, we find inspiration in all the incredible works of Mother Nature, and this is especially true in the spectaular deserts of the American Southwest. Monolithic mesas, unusual flora and fauna, and colorful sunsets can all be found here.

Rich earth tones are the basis for this theme: deep terra cotta, golden yellows, ochres, and more comprise the landscape, while rich blues, purples, and even red compose the colorful sunset common to this area. Cacti, collared lizards, and other desert fauna are depicted in their natural colors. Contrasting colors found in the scenes are used for accents, depending on the nature of the piece being painted.
